Delain, Xandria, Edge of Paradise: Whisky A Go Go - Hollywood, CA 3/8/25
Dutch symphonic metal band Delain announced their headlining USA tour and brought with them German symphonic metal band Xandria and Edge of Paradise. Shows were selling out or close to it, so it was no doubt that all the shows were going to be amazing. The show in Hollywood at the legendary Whisky A Go Go would be no exception as the show sold out well in advance as fans were more than excited to see this amazing package of rock and metal bands.
Edge of Paradise release their sixth album Prophecy on March 7, 2025. After a few opening local acts, it was time for the first band of the tour to take the stage. The first song performed was “Prophecy Unbound”, one of the songs from the new album. With it being the second stop of the tour, EOP were full of energy and wasted no time in hyping up the already packed venue. Singer Margarita Monet wore a very flashy outfit that matched the space rock sound and vibe to their music. A few more tracks from their set included “Hologram”, “Death Note”, and “Digital Paradise”. Even though they’re the first band on the tour, EOP put on an amazing show and needs to be seen by everyone who attend this tour. The final song of the show was “Falling Light”, the last song of the new album. EOP said their thanks to audience then left the stage. The show was finally taking off and there were still two amazing bands left in the night.
Xandria released their eighth album The Wonders Still Awaiting in 2023. In 2024, they released their second EP Universal Tales. Xandria toured the USA last year, but they were already back to play for their fans once again. The lights went out once again and the packed venue cheered with excitement. The first song performed was “You Will Never Be Our God”, one of the songs from the latest album. The fans were happy to see Xandria again and they proved it as they screamed, sang along, raised their horns and banged their heads. The Show continued as they played another song from the latest album, “Reborn”. After that, they played “Universal” from the new EP. The newest singer Ambre Vourvahis was on point singing every song to perfection. All the other band members gave it their all as they played every note with album precision. A few more songs were performed which included “200 Years”, “Two Worlds”, and “Live the Tale”. Since they were a support act, they sadly had a short set. The final song of the night was “Nightfall”. The audience cheered for Xandria as they played the final song and, for sure, Los Angeles can't wait until they come back for a longer set.
Delain released their seventh studio album Dark Waters in 2023. The album features the band's current lineup featuring new and old members including new singer Diana Leah. By now, the venue was packed to capacity, and it became very difficult to move around. Eventually, the lights went out and the sold-out venue roared with excitement as the band made their way to the stage. The first song performed was "The Cold", a song from the latest album. The fans were ecstatic to have Delain return to the USA, and they showed it as they cheered and sang along to the music. Up next was the fan favorite “Suckerpunch”, and it had the fans jumping to the chorus. One of the highlights of the show was hearing them perform their two newest songs “Dance with the Devil” and “The Reaping”, which were both released on their EP of the same name released in 2024. The band was clearly happy to be performing at a legendary venue and to a sold-out crowd at that. The band would interact with each other and were all smiles. You can see the great chemistry between them. A few more songs were performed which included “Stardust”, “The Quest and the Curse”, and “Get the Devil Out of Me”. Whether they were old or new songs, Leah sang each song to perfection. Close to the end of the show, Delain performed “Not Enough”, and the song has a beautiful opera-like ending that Leah sang with no issues. It’s something that needs to be heard to be believed. To end the show, Delain played their most popular song “We Are the Others”. The song talks about the British girl Sophie Lancaster who was murdered in 2007 simply for being goth and dressing differently. The song also talks about being a social outcast and anyone who was treated badly for not being part of “the norm”. The show sadly came to an end. Delain thanked the audience for coming out then left the stage once more. The whole tour is a great package and anyone attending should get there early enough to see all three bands. The tour is still going on, so you have time to see them.
