Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund: Warner Center Park - Woodland Hills, CA - /

The annual Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund returned this year at a new location. This year, this popular cancer fund would be held at the Warner Center Park in Woodland Hills, California. While the event was free to the public, it was highly encouraged that attendees donate to the cause. The event started early at 11 in the morning and even then, lots of rockers came out to support a good cause. The event would be hosted by Eddie Trunk from VH1’s That Metal Show. He would also be joined by Wendy Dio who is the widow of Ronnie James Dio. This year’s lineup would include many bands and musicians that came together for this one incredible day. The lineup featured the Dio Disciples who played several Dio covers. One of the main attractions was Eddie Trunk’s All-Star Band which featured musicians from various bands that would alternate every few songs. They performed for two hours, which consisted of Dio covers and covers of classic rock and metal songs. The finale of the All-Star band featured rock legend Lita Ford and her band. She came out playing a one-of-a-kind Dio guitar that was up for auction and that she performed two of her songs with. That guitar ended up being sold at the auction for a whopping $11,500. The grand finale of the event was when the event was headlined by heavy metal legends, Quiet Riot. They played many of their hits and had everyone singing along, especially when they played their hits “Metal Health (Bang Your Head)” and “Cum On Feel the Noize.” An explosive performance by all the bands and in the end, the event raised $80,000. With an event like this, there was no doubt that Dio was smiling down at us from atop of the Silver Mountain.
