The Hillbilly Moon Explosion: The Majestic Ventura Theater - Ventura, CA - 7/25/24

The Hillbilly Moon Explosion is a rockabilly band from Switzerland formed in 1998. Since then, they have released nine studio albums with the latest album being Back in Time which was released this year in 2024. THME announced a California tour with several dates that covered all of California. One of the stops was on the coast in Ventura, California at the famous Majestic Ventura Theater. Even on a Thursday night, lots of music fans came out to show their support for one of the best rockabilly bands around.
The venue had a nice turnout of fans as the first two opening bands warmed up the audience. The lights went out and the audience cheered as the band members made their way to the stage. The first song played was Jet Fuel Rock and Roll, a song from the new album. With the next song, THME kicked it into high gear with Sometimes Late at Night, the first song on the new album. This song gave singer/guitarist Emanuela Hutter a chance to shine and show off her beautiful vocal abilities. Now that some of the new stuff had been played, the band went on to play some fan-favorites. Some of those classics included “Buy, Beg or Steal,” “Long Way Down,” “Queen of Hearts” and “Depression.” No matter what song they played, fans were seen singing along and dancing to the music. In between songs, the band took the time to thank the audience for coming out as well as tell some jokes just to add more positivity to the show. One of the best songs performed on their show was their most popular song, My Love for Evermore. Fans were once again heard singing along to the catchy chorus. Up next was their Blondie cover of “Call Me” and it got fans dancing once again. The final song of their performance was Down on Your Knees. The show came to an end and the band left the stage. The fans stayed put and weren’t ready to go home just yet. After a few minutes, THME came back out to treat the fans to a few more tunes. The first encore was Baby, I Love You, a cover by The Ronettes. After a few more encores, THME called it a night, to the dismay of the audience who were having too much fun. They’re a super fun band to see live and it’s highly encouraged to see them live if they come to your area.
